Ha, well tbh if u get so easily distracted by things as in her case then obviously that person isn't important enough in the first place. You make time for important people / people u deeply care about. You don't forget them. We have gone our separate ways. I ended it.

Also what about the all the things she'd say such as "I love u heaps" and all the amazing hugs? Did that all mean nothing? I'm just so confused because it felt like she really did love me/ care about me except then she doesn't put much effort in the friendship..

It sounds as though she did care about you as a friend, even if she wasn't the one to initiate convos and stuff like that.
Me personally, I have amazing friends that I care about, but I'm never the one to message/call them first because I get distracted by other things.
I think she did like you as a friend, but even so, it was years ago and neither of you have kept in contact, so I'd say just go your separate ways

Sure you can like a friend just like you can simply "like " an acquaintance but I'm talking about something deeper than merely liking someone.
