Depressive overeating

I have noticed I've began to binge eat and most of my friends are out of reach. Most of the times I cry in the shower because I'm depressed because of stressful events that have happened to me in the past. Should I bother to go looking for help again? I don't want to play mice chase again.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Binge eating is a common way for people suffering mental disorders to self medicate. It gives your body a big ol' dopamine hit. It's very common, but it ultimately doesn't treat the problem & can make depression much worse because it can lead to weight gain & secretive activities & shame & a little bit of a binge purge restrict cycle.

Listen, if you are depressed and unhappy, that's a physical problem, just as much as a broken leg. It's caused by your brain under producing or quickly metabolizing the brain chemicals associated with happiness & mental rewards. There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with getting help for that & you should.

Binge eating will never solve your problems. It will make everything worse. It's a bad cycle that feeds on itself & that's true for any attempt to self medicate. You can get help for this & you should. You deserve it.

Depression just takes some self control and motivation to overcome.

Get help if you want it. I say, honestly go for it! There's no harm in trying, and it sounds like your quality of life is poor-er than you'd like it to be. I'd get help.

Mice chase? Well, whatever you do don't catch mice, eat them, because it's not nice, and there's a good chance you'll catch Toxoplasma gondii.

    • It was just a saying Rose, it just means I don't want to have people chasing me up for this.

So I had a question if I should go and get help again?
