Depressed first thing in the morning then feeling better later in day.

Most people I know who are depressed feel that way later in the day. For me, it's the opposite. I feel really depressed almost every single day when I wake up but I feel better as the day goes on. Usually before noon, I already start feeling normal and not in a "depressed" state.. but I consistently wake up in a depressed state.

Is It Normal?

  • It's normal. I wake up somewhat unhappy knowing that my life has not changed and that I am waking up to the same old problems. I often have to cajole myself to put one foot in front of the other, to get ready and leave..half contemplating calling in sick. But after coffee, greeting my buddies at work, and getting into the professional head-space, I feel better ..almost as if I am not depressed. It sustains until bed time, when my demons return ..as if the darkness outside makes my situation seem worse.

    Hope this helps

  • I usually have about an hour or two of dread that happens just before i have to go into work and only subsides after i work for a while.

  • depression is a habit, you're own willpower will bring you out of it when you're ready

  • To begin with, the average, healthy, well adjusted adult gets up at seven thirty in the morning feeling just plain terrible.
