Dealing with a friend like this

I have this friend who only talks about their life. For example this person asked what's up. I answered that I was with my boyfriend. She replied with a "I don't care" and kept on talking about her problems. I also noticed that she is treating me more like a therapist than a friend. When I tell her this she gets all sensitive and says "don't get mad at me!". I don't know what to do with her

    She's too needy and you're too polite. You need to be clear, calm and direct without being nasty and let her know you want a more equal friendship

    Is it any worse than having a friend who continually asks and hammers you about everything in your life, and won't say a hint about theirs? I have one like that now..Will ask, and, frequently make fun of, your life, all in effort to not say shit about his own. It's exhausting, stressful, and there have been times he's wanted to visit, and I've declined, making up something about being busy, but, just not wanting to take all the stress and effort myself.

    I have a grate friend who listened to me almost every time, every two days, 3 years straight when we met and finally I came to a conclusion that my therapy was over and he kind of knew that one day I will run out of things to say and we both became happy friends, he had a lot of patience. She might need this because it costs money when you go and see a psychiatrist.

    But this might be a different story.
