It sounds like you may have low self esteem & he knows this. Most guys will notice & if he's a jerk will use this to use you & take advantage of you. He's been pulling you around on a string boosting his ego because some "love sick" babe is waiting for him while he has his fun with whatever females he wants to.
I think he broke up with his ex because she actually stood up for herself & demanded respect, to be treated fairly and have a decent relationship from him or else she'd dump him-sounds like that's what happened-& good for her!
He knows he can get away with anything with you, especially when you kissed him while knowing he was dating someone else.
His ideal is to find another or more girls like you who have low self esteem & dont care that he's a jerk & will always be there for him-so he can date & use you all and go brag & laugh to his friends of how much of a "cool player, ladies man, egotistical jerk" he is.
My advice to you is love yourself, gain confidence and dont make a bad habit of letting men use you. When you do finally love yourself you will be able to make smart decisions about relationships & know who's the right guy for you.
Real men respect women.
