He confessed! I was young & trusting at the time (a long long time ago) and had no idea. I wasn't so shocked at the adultery because there'd been no reduction in our active sex life, but I felt humiliated that our so-called friends (really his as it turned out) had known about it all along and I hadn't.
It was a classic case of him wanting an "open marriage" but really only open for him.
