Covid is the new sports

Yep, no one really gives a poop now. No one is scared, no one social distances, few even bother with masks.
On the news, they save covid banter for last.

It is like the Sports part of the news. Comes later and they just say what the latest score is. "10,000 new cases, 4,000 recovered, and 8,000 dead."

Ironic as a hipster who listens to mainstream music on an android phone, fear covid (respiratory disorder) is now breathing it's last breaths.

There have been far deadlier pandemics than covid. The 1918 Spanish Flu killed 80 million alone that year (covid hasnt even caused half a million, yet the world population was barely 1 billion then, now its near 8 billion), and persisted till at least 1920. Thats more than double the WW1 death toll. The world today is far more medically advanced and Covid is actually not very deadly, less than 5% people die, most dying are 75+ with pre existing conditions (heart disease, diabetes, cancer, etc). In China for instance 80,000 were infected, 70,000 recovered only 3000 died. Still Chinese stats is unreliable right? How about Germany 185,413 infected 8,763 died, 168,395 recovered. Covid is highly infectious but not so deadly. Spain which recieved wide coverage 240,978 cases, 27,134 deaths, 150,376 recovered. Regardless my point is not to treat the covid pandemic as tho it is nothing. But there have been far deadlier than Covid yet the whole world wasn't shut down for it (the Black Death in the 14th C killed almsot 100 million when the world population was just around 500 million). Worse than covid itself is the recession it has dragged the world into, the worst since the 1930s. People will die of poverty if the economies do not open up anyway. People must go back to work and earn a living while practicing social distancing and other precautionary measures. Like with previous pandemics people must continue to work while doing their best to stay safe and we should work towards a medicine for covid. Shutting down economies, causing poverty and people starving to death isn't the solution. And regardless of it all, at the end of the day, everyone is destined to die, regardless of the cause.
