As a love interest? No, never. I want the real thing. I want a real woman in my life and nothing can replace that.
As a friend - yeah, sure. Would be interesting to hear an AI's thoughts on lots of subjects.
"What is real? How do you define 'real'? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then 'real' is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain."
That is why I say, indistinguishable from a "bio woman" xD
I'd rather take my girlfriend for an oil change than have her get cancer and die :P
Eventually I presume such entities will exist and their bodies will be the same as ours, probably grown or printed. I would imagine their brains would be more like our computers today than our brains. Of course I am making assumptions here.
But if women of the future will be advanced cyborgs, won't that mean that men will also be advanced cyborgs.
Cause in that case, all of us, bio-people, we have to be "discontinued" in favor of a new species of cyborg humans...
Or existing men and women need to be stuffed with cybernetics to start that age of cyborgs.
Also, in my mind, there is no such thing as indistinguishable cyborg, from a bio woman. Cause that woman would be as you said, printed, or grown in a vat. She can be 100% flesh, bones, nerves and all the organs humans have, but she would be something not fully real.
She won't have a childhood, she won't have to go to school, she won't want to do something stupid, cause machines always act logically. Even if they are super advanced and have feelings, they will still want to steer towards logic. Also I think that special person should have flaws. Cause without flaws, you can't appreciate everything.
Also it can be cute.
Think this turned into an interesting discussion. XD
I believe that androids are inevitable, the place to invent such things, Japan, has a massive aging population and is already turning to robotics to assist in the care of the elderly.
Supply and demand will take care of the rest :) But yes, I would surmise males, females and everything in between (or completely sexless) androids will be made.
I think there will be outcry, ignorance and fear controlling people. I mean, we still have people who think the Earth is flat and there is a conspiracy to tell people otherwise.
I believe a shift will most likely come when we start advancing our own species with technology, transhumanism. We will become faster, stronger, more intelligent.. etc.. Just better. Soon after, people will begin to question what "human" is, given they themselves would likely be just as the androids are, part machine, part human biology.
I guess in such a situation I would refer to those man made androids as humanoids, rather than human.
I guess the finer points are pure supposition, all we can be sure of is that it will happen and it will be driven by both need and desire. We are making rapid progress in neurobiology and I think we will be able to replicate the human brain well before we actually understand it. This may give rise to a mind that is identical to ours in every way.
Childhood and such experiences probably could be emulated electronically, signals to grow certain pathways strongly and develop advanced abilities in certain areas, using our own biology. (This would likely be able to be done to humans too) Think, electro shock, but.. friendly :D Once again, supposition. If I was in charge of such projects that is what I would be investigating. Move away from experience based learning and just give the benefits of a great upbringing.
Of course, there would be those that want an android which they can "adopt" as a child and grow with. These androids would likely be just as a child would be.
You know, you bring up an interesting point about perfection and such. We as humans tend to be rather demanding, many look for damn near unattainable levels of perfection in partners. I have that kind of perfection in at dating sim. She is, damn near perfect. She has personality flaws, but they are programmed in. Even with those, she is positively seductive and if I was faced with her, in reality.. I just couldn't say no. I wouldn't want to.
I wonder what would happen when these androids are mixed in with the public, walking, talking, looking just like everyone else.
Eventually, people would wonder, is that hot chick that they saw.. android or not? I think that may sway many minds in itself.
Anyway, I am rambling. I am quite tired, and yes, this is quite an interesting conversation :D
Could you love an android/gynoid/humanoid robot that was "perfect"?

A woman that was born, has no artificial parts. A normal woman.
Has emotions, dreams, desires, strengths, weaknesses, all the qualities a human has.
Plus you wouldn't want to take your girlfriend every 4000 miles for an oil change would you? XD
