Well it can come off as pretty pervy to comment on someones ass. You said you've known her a month and a half, that's nothing and you're not even dating so why wouldn't she think that's creepy unless you guys tend to flirt with each other a lot. I would be weirded out if one of my guy friends would suddenly start commenting on my ass (unless a comment like that would be on topic of what we're talking about somehow and said in a joking manner). She might also take that as you being attracted to her since it's a pretty sexual comment to make compared to if you gave a more neutral compliment, and she's trying to show you that she doesn't feel the same in return.
