when i hear a complement, i don't think "that's great they noticed this good feature" i think, "you seem so surprised, you think I'm unable?" maybe if they don't act surprised similarly I'll think:
"they just noticed, then I'm probably pretty bad at ___"
do other people perceive complements this way? am i being arrogant? please comment, because i am pretty sure I'm not normal.
No no, only people who deserve it will accept it. You obviously don't deserve the complement that is why you act that way!!
I hate people giving me compliments! I know when I look good etc and to be honest, there are very few people whose opinion I value. I am very cynical and think they are saying it for a reason. It makes me wonder what they are after. It comes from my childhood when my mom and gran used to try to sweeten me up so I would do chores. It used to insult my intelligence - as if I didn't know what they were up to!!!

people tell me i look like kirsten dunst & it makes me SO MAD! i do not look like her under ANY circumstances!!!
Take a compliment as a compliment. They're probably not saying it in surprise, like you're unable to do something, but that they probably can't and are impressed. Get over yourself.

I take a compliment as a negative, maybe it is arrogance? All i know i dislike people complimenting me, i prefer it more so when people talk down to me.
This weekend i had a motorcycle accident, minor collision, no serious injuries. I much preferred people when they didn't care for my well being than the ones that asked if i was alright.
Maybe I'm one not to like attention?

just accept what people say as truth, id rathervbe a gullible fool that an ass
I used to b this way too but somehow taught myself to just accept the compliments and say thankyou
