Cigarettes make you poo?

When I smoke cigarettes, I often get the urge to poo really badly. This normally happens when I smoke standing up. The urge comes on quite suddenly and I often end up going to the toilet. Is it normal?

    I used to smoke and had the same issue so I talked to my doc about it. He said that there are actually a small amount of laxatives in them.

    I also quit smoking, and its a great feeling. :)

    Well considering all the random shit they put in it I could see why your body wants to get rid of some of it.

    There is a bunch of laxatives in cigarettes, same with coffee. Combine the two early in the morning with a nice full intestinal tract and you'd better pray that you brought a spare pair of pants to work.

    It happens to me too. I figured my body associated smoking with going to the bathroom because when I was younger and working, the only time you got a smoke break was when you went to the bathroom.
