I dont give a shit if they go extinct personally. We made the buffalo go extinct. You cant really police other countries and cultures. If they wanna eat all the whale then thats their business.
The estimated 5,000 in yellowstone aren't allowed to leave the park for fear of transmitting diseases to cattle that graze in nearby fields and limit competition for grazing between them. They are wild animals though.
I don't know about the other national parks and what they do with bison populations in or around their lands.
I suppose that depends on your definition of wild. There are herds in national parks, but I don't think there are many in non-protected wild grounds. They would just cause too much destruction.
