It's possible, I don't even think it's *necessarily* wrong to say that. The love between a parent and a child is far from unconditional, especially when the kid has grown up and left home.
To use an extreme example, one kid could have been a violent, abusive animal torturer and the other could have worked for an animal rescue centre. One could have been a living saint who worked saving, feeding and rearing starving African children from the beaks of vultures while the other wanted to nuke the whole goddamn continent with something called "deathfire", whatever that is. I know who I'd rather keep alive in each case, even if they were both my own flesh and blood.
