Independence is a reflection of responsibility. What are you doing to be independent? Do you have a job, saving all your money for a car or your own place? Doing well in school and getting ready for college? That is being independent. If not, maybe you are actually just being rebellious and withdrawing yourself and your parents are unhappy with that. Figure out what is going on. Parents usually like their kids to show responsibilty and independence, but they do not like it when kids rebel against them.

So, kids, take a hint from this old fogey: show respect towards your parents at all times and you'll be amazed with the outcome.
