  • It depends what type of vegetarian you are (or want to be). Eggs, milk and fish (ovo, lacto, and pesca) are the common exceptions from veganism. Although I don't especially like milk (except sterilised milk), I use it in cooking. I eat eggs and fish too, and am strictly an ovo-lacto-pescatarian.

At heart, I'm a vegan, but it's an almost impossible lifestyle for me to stay healthy on (and it's not varied enough, plus I'd die without cheese).

If you're anything like me, you'll find your brand of vegetarianism changing (in both directions). I have been a vegan and I have avoided eggs and fish (they're both a life - if the egg was fertilised, anyway) and even milk (though nothing dies to make milk).

To answer your question, though, yes, you can eat eggs but you are then technically an ovo-vegetarian not a common or garden vegetarian.

    • This.

      OP:
I've been a vegetarian for 6 years, I've always eaten eggs. When I went veg I ate tuna (I never liked fish except tuna), foods with animal products (like chicken ramen), and eggs. I stopped eating those things (cept eggs) completely within my first 2 years. Whenever it was brought up, no matter what stage, my answer was always "I'm a vegetarian".
As long as you don't eat meat (meaning chicken and beef as well as red meat (no cheating =P )) you are a vegetarian. Grab some fish and eggs if that's your veggie way.
