Can't stop cleaning

Every day when I come home from school (Student @ college) I clean my house for 2-3 hours. I vacuum, I do the dishes, I wash the floors, I sweep, I do laundry, I clean my room, I polish the wood furniture etc..

I can't focus on homework or other activities until my house is completely clean from top to bottom. That includes bathrooms, a small wrapper laying on the floor, or a dusty surface. I can't sleep sometimes and find myself cleaning my bathroom @ 2am (Windex-ing a window, wiping down a counter, cleaning the toilet, cleaning the shower)

Is this odd? Most people's homes I've been too are usually pretty tidy however I am a complete neat freak.

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • That's the exact opposite of my problem. I can't stop NOT cleaning. I just procrastinate the hell out of anything that really needs to be done. I'm not trolling either. You may have OCD. I may have chronic fatigue syndrome or depression. Read up on OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) to find the symptoms and treatments for it.

  • I was doing something sort of like that. Except it was not in my house, it was at work. XD I kept everything clean there and if there was something I was supposed to clean that day, I would obsess over it and not be able to focus until it got done. I had to juggle several tasks at the same time and in my mind I felt like I needed to get them done. A good chunk of my workday there was cleaning.
