Can't do as good as the second time

So I love writing monoluges and I LOVE acting. I'm currently writing a monolague about someone's little sister dying, the girl telling a story of how she feels, saying what she remembers of their last moments together, and all that good stuff. Which makes it easier for me to get emotional because I just think of my little sister dying [[terrible, but works]] so halfway through writing it, I decide to read through it and act it out to see how it is. The first time, I start to cry, which is great. Then I read it again, do the same thing, and don't cry. I try again and still can't. What happened?? I don't understand what happened between the first time and the rest. Why can't I do it again??

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • you may not cry because we only cry when pain is limited.
when it exceeds a limit you can't even cry.
    maybe that's the reason.

    don't feel ashamed of that.
if you don't cry it doesn't mean that you don't feel the pain.

i was never able to cry on my girlfriend's death.

    not even now.

    and hey !! Thanks

  • It's very hard not to have a warped perspective on something you're creating. As tough as it might be, you need to find someone else to read it and give you his/her reaction. It might be completely different from how you intended.

    • But... what does that have to do with me wanting to be able to cry when I act it out??

  • you couldn't cry because after the first time your mind didn't feel the same sympathy
