I think in terms of people yes. Some people want to believe that the person they love has no flaws but in actuality they do. I guess in terms of perfection we want to believe that some people can be that, and that it exists, when really it doesn't. The same can be said about a lie that you eventually lead to the point that you can't distinguish it from the truth. Kind of like faking a smile and eventually becoming good at acting happy, so good that you fool yourself. Anyways, we sometimes want to believe these illusions that we've placed on ourselves and others; in reality though, those things aren't there but sometimes the imaginary image we've created in our heads becomes the lie that we can't live out.
