  • The origin is found in the movie The Matrix. A group finds a person they want to rescue from the Matrix (Keanu Reeves). Before they rescue him they give him one last chance to turn back and live a normal life. The Morpheus character, the leader, offers him a blue pill. If he takes it he stays in the Matrix and goes no with his life. He then offers a red pill. If Keanu's character takes this pill he will be removed from the Matrix and will get to see it for what it is.

Later it the blue/red dichotomy was adopted by the MRA, specifically MGTOW, as representative of modern societies views of men and masculinity. Later "The Red Pill" was also used by a film maker, Cassie Jaye, as the title for a documentary about the men's rights movement. Which I suggest everyone watches.

This documentary is so controversial it was and still is banned in some countries, like Australia. And it's only message is maybe men should have some rights and we should talk about this.

    • Men should have "some rights"? You are joking, right?

      • Are you saying men should have no rights?

        • Not at all! All humans should have rights: I'm suggesting men do have rights whereas you seemed to be implying they have none and need to get some.

          • Men do have some rights. But they are losing those rights at an alarming rate.

              • It's not just rights, but double standards that favor women. If a married couple gets divorced, the man almost always gets dicked out of what is rightfully his and on top of this has to bear an additional ongoing financial burden to support his former wife. Women get a mere slap on the wrist compared to men when it comes to prosecuting cases involving adult/minor sexual relations. Men are victims of domestic abuse and violence, too, but nobody ever takes this seriously, and the men who do claim to be victims are wimps and are expected to "man up". Men are only allowed to display a few emotions, unlike women. Nobody gives women working in a daycare center a second thought, but a man who works in a daycare is automatically thought to be a pedophile. There are fathers who are afraid take their own kids to the park because bystanders will think he's some creep perving out on the children playing there when he's just there to watch his own son or daughter have a little carefree fun. Some airlines won't allow a man to sit next to an unaccompanied minor and will make him sit in a different seat. Women? No problem. I'm sure I could think of some more examples, but the more I write this the more it pisses me off to think about it.

              • Men can not be raped in India. Men in France cannot ask for a paternity test, if the man does get one he can be arrested for a federal crime.

In Canada wow, where to start. A women can fish a condom out of the trash or put pin holes in a condom or diaphragm and impregnate herself. No problem, the man is then financially responsible for the child. If a man does any of those things he goes to jail for sexual assault. The National organization for Women in Canada want to change the law to remove the presumption of innocent for sexual assault cases. Also they want to add the rape shield laws to apply to all internet communication and the history of the plaintive. As well as allowing plaintiffs to remain anonymous.

In towns in England (Nottinghamshire, North Yorkshire, and Norfolk) a man can be arrested for saying hello to a woman, if the woman feels the man committed a hate crime by saying hello.

In the US it depends on what state your in. In Alabama a women can place her child up for adopting without informing the father. The father can fight it, but only if he has the time to gather all the paperwork necessary. But this is hard if her doesn't know he needs to do this.

I can go on but I don't feel like it right now.

      • It's a loosely organized group called "Men Going There Own Way" who's basic principle is a statement of self-ownership, where the modern man preserves and protects his own sovereignty above all else. I must say that I don't agree with every one of these guys but many of them make sense.
