This is accurately expressed as "Numerical Morbus" The disease of numbers, it is fairly common in adolescents, but some times it can be carried into adult hood. I would be cautious if you where traveling, this could possibly have adverse effects if you where to lose control of a car, or even a bike while doing math in your head.
Good luck and I feel your pain, a friend of mine is in her late 30s and still suffers from this. She is very bad at balancing her check book.
