Calling before asking if it's a good time

Both my Fiance and my friend does this. It drives me mad when they call before texting! Like I find it rude that they wouldn't ask first.

I already explained to my fiance how much this bothers me. It took awhile, but he finally understood, and is getting better at asking.

My friend on the other hand would turn it around at me saying I don't call her. I talk to her from time to time and we have great conversations. I just don't like it when she expects a conversation everyday.

Is this a normal pet peeve?

Why do they have to ask before calling? If it’s not convenient you don’t have to answer it right then.

I find it super annoying cause my phone vibrates. I don't even want to put it on silent..... cause the whole "10 missed calls from mom scenario"

I disagree. In my family, we have a saying for when someone calls and we don't recognize the number.
      "If it's important, they'll leave a message."

Your second sentence is true, but your first doesn't work on a landline.

I agree. Before my eldest started school I had the voicemail function turned off. It was awesome. Life was simple.

I think this is a normal reaction for most phone calls, and I feel the same way, but not a normal reaction to your fiance. Surely you are comfortable enough around them to just take the call, even if it's just to say you will call back later?

I find most phone calls highly intrusive but I would always answer the phone to my husband.

Even if he calls you 10 times a day expecting a long phone call?

Yes, because at some point I would get irritated and say "i don't have time for these long phone calls, just talk to me when you get home".

If you can't even say that to someone then you probably shouldn't marry them.

If I’m in the middle of a work call or something important, I’ll let it go to voicemail, or text back, “Busy, will call back.” I’ve even gotten my mom conditioned to send me a text from her iPad before calling. If I’m free, I’ll call her back.

Its annoying. I have a boss that will only talk by calls. He wont respond to a text but maybe once a month. And even then its "call me".

Idk why u cant just text. Why call over a simple yes or no question.

As not having phone calls is your preference, you should respect that she wants you to call.

I personally appreciate phone calls more just bc it’s quicker. Texts have a tendency to blur the point that’s trying to get out across.
