Buying a dog is like buying a car. iin?

In all the pet shops I've been to that have dogs, they have payment plans where you can pay every month for the dog. They even do a credit check and have you put a down payment. Also, you can be alone with the dog and play with them almost like a "try before you buy". I was with a friend when he was doing this and it kind of felt like the time I bought a car at a car dealership. I'm slightly amused. Is this kind of dog buying normal?

Dogs in pet stores often come from puppy mills. Please don't buy. Get one from a shelter or something.

What's wrong with hanging with an animal before you buy It? You are purchasing a life, it's litterally slavery in a way. Poiny being you don't buy a life that ismy fitting for you
