Why do Americans say fuckin A and Brits say fuckin L?
My husband says fucking a when he is annoyed or mad. I never heard anyone else say it. He is in his 40's. And British people are saying fucking hell not fucking L.
Fucking A is an old U.S. Military term. Used a lot in the Vietnam era. It means "Fucking Affirmative" which was later shortened to Fuckin A. So your wrong on the American part but you have the British one right. Their accent makes hell sound like L.
There are other variations of fucking A. Like Fucking Aye. It basically means hell yes. Not sure where you came up with anarchy. Maybe that's a new variation. Times change and so do words. Gay used to mean happy. Not anymore.
IDK, but I have several friends that are English. Ordinarily swear words don't catch my attention, but some of these Brits, whenever they curse, it's cute and comical. I'm going to pay more attention to their pronunciation.
So, how do the Kiwis and Aussies say it?
Giblets? Say what?
Don't forget "bugger". Strictly speaking, buggery is anal sex, but bugger has somehow transmuted into a milder form of "fuck". "Well, bugger me!" is a common expression of astonishment.
"Shag" is another good one, familiar to some due to the Austin Powers films.
"Bellend" refers to the glans of the penis, as does "knob". Calling a guy a bellend or knob is roughly the same as saying he's an arsehole. (And of course most English regional accents drop the "R" sound, so arsehole sounds very similar to asshole.)
Tosser is the same as wanker.
"Cunt" in British English is a bit weird. It can be an insult, but guys also use it as a term of endearment when speaking to their mates.
I don't know about why Americans say "fuking a" but I do know that British people are just saying "fuking hell" but because of their accent they pronounce the h as silent so it sounds like "fuking l".
"Fucking a" is something people of my parents generation said. They're in their late 60's. I've never heard anyone my age or younger say it. I'm 35.
i don't get what your tryna say here i never heard any of my fellow americans say fucking a
I always thought they were saying "fucking hell" not L, LOL! HAHA! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCKING HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Americans saying fucking A and Brits saying fucking L, I mean fucking hell is cultural difference. It's the same reasons Americans call it the trunk of the car and Brits call it the boot, Americans saying question and Brits saying query, and Americans saying line and Brits saying que.
I have never heard "fuckin l" before.
Do you mean "fuckin (h)ell" perhaps?
