Its like this as long as she is living in her parents house she will abide by their rules. I agree her mother is entirely over protective but that is her prerogative. When her daughter completely grows up moves out (supports herself) then she can do as she pleases in the mean time that's just the way it is.
If this girl doesn't mean enough to you to stick it out and wait until she is out on her own then yes i suggest you break it off and find someone else.
