Boyfriend is "uncomfortable" about my trolling

I'm only human and I need a laugh every now and then and I, like many others, gain plenty through my joke profiles on OkCupid and Tinder. I put a fake name up, set my standards low and amuse myself for many hours bantering back and forth with whoever takes the bait, sending increasingly bizarre messages until they leave or call me out for trolling, by which time I will have harvested plenty of funny screenshots to amuse my friends.

I should note I don't take this too far. I never message the same person for more than a few days, never forming deep connections or asking to meet up. I'm not a catfish. It's just weird light-hearted fun, I think most people realise I'm fake from message one

When my boyfriend sees me on the apps though he says he feels "uncomfortable with this". It probably didn't help when I used his middle and last name for the OkCupid profile, but I just wanted him to feel included.

So IIN, is it normal to feel discomfort at your girlfriend's casual trolling and how shall I put my dear boyfriend at ease?

    I'd feel uneasy too: someone with a hobby based on deceiving people for a laugh isn't anyone I'd want to have anything to do with

      I agree with you completely. If I found out one of my friends were a troll I'd avoid contact with them from that point. The world needs less jerks.

      Lol I wouldn't really call it a hobby, and as I said I doubt many people are fooled for very long, they're probably showing the ridiculous convos to their mates and laughing at me.

        This site is done for. You can't even post anything on here without the thread being hijacked with tedious arguments over nothing. By the way I think you're way out of line on those dating websites but at the same time I would have to see your profile and what kinds of messages you write to be certain. It really may all be just stupid fun but from the basic outline of what you wrote you sound a little bit like a sociopath.
