I would say this is a normal feeling and I agree that it is most likely rooted from childhood experiences.

You can not let this consume you. You sound very intelligent and what you need to realize and have as a standard is surround yourself with those that love you for you.
Do you wanna live you life trying to please a man constantly. You should be a team with loves unconditionally despite flaws that we all have even if they are hidden
You tried Christianity. What made me truly believe is living by His word, praying, being surrounded by those who love Him.
You will find confidence in His love alone if you ever get to know Him.
Dont worry yourself with these thoughts especially if he has sad anything to you.
