Blinking light in sky

Was stargazing around after midnight like I usually do and this light that looked like a star suddenly appeared, it was stationary and blinked around every 8 seconds, stared at it for about 5 minutes then went in to google but didn't fit any description of a satellite.. went back out again and it was gone:( It definitely wasn't a plane and I don't think it was a satellite.. what else is a good explanation?

    The ISS? It orbits so it is never stationary.

    A meteoroid?

    As you can't really identify it it could be classed as an unidentified flying object.
