  • Sounds like gum disease, such as gingivitis. Get to a dentist ASAP, before your teeth start rotting.

    • My dentist said my gum and teeth are normal and its normal to bleed a little when you brush hard.

      • Then try not brushing so hard! Get a soft toothbrush and toothpaste for sensitive gums and see if that helps.

      • Seriously? So, you went to a dentist and he/she said "everything is fine, all perfectly normal", and you came here to this nut farm for a second opinion?

You need to see a psychiatrist now! LOL

  • If it is normal or not depends on the circumstances like how old you are, how long its been happening, etc.

  • It is not normal for gums to bleed. Only if you brush too long. But most of the time, it's because your gums are receding as a result of plaque on the gum line.

  • That used to happen to me. I used to brush straight, now I use my brush In a circular motion and now it stopped, but I don't know if that's your problem.

  • I read the other comments, and you NEED to see a new dentist.

He shouldn't have told you that AT ALL (and I'm 100% sure- I wouldn't give medical advice if I wasn't)

Your gums only bleed if you have gingivitis, or problems that are worse, like receding gums or a more serious infection.

If your gums are bleeding, they are inflamed and probably infected. They shouldn't bleed at all when you brush, and you should floss at least once a day, and do it in a "c" shape so you get underneath the pockets in your gums.

Bad dental health can cause the worst pain ever, so please fix your brushing and flossing habits...and get a new dentist. Your dentist is totally full of shit.

      • Well, you know what that means? It means you have to floss more often, and continue to floss. Floss everyday, floss at least twice a day!
