Black outs

i am a teenager, but i have been blacking out a lot for a few years. whenever i get up from sitting, or when i am just standing around i will black out. usually i will fall down so i always grab onto the couch or anything and wait for it to end. these only take 3-5 seconds, but sometimes they are painful and i need to clinch my teeth and grip something. sometimes they feel really nice though, like I'm high or something. i have also blacked out and when i woke up, i had no idea where i was and no memory of what had happened, but it all comes back to me in a little bit. it isn't drug related and i never have a hard time breathing when it happens. Is this normal?

Is It Normal?

  • I do the same thing. I get all wobbly and numb too. Talk to your doctor. It's probably because you have poor circulation. Also check out orthostatic hypertension. Black outs suck, but we just have to deAl with them.

  • you could be just getting up to fast. try getting up slowly... perhaps some people are more sensitive to this sort of thing. as for blacking out when you are standing that isn't normal and could be a sign of a health issue.

if it gets worse see your doctor.

  • I do that too. My mom says she also had them when she was younger, and that it's got to do something with the blood pressure. Are you doing sports seriously? That can also be the problem (if you do). Btw i love these blackouts they feel awesome! :)
