Of course it's normal to come out whenever you feel comfortable doing it.
You don't say if you came to the conclusion that you're Bi at 30, or realized it much sooner and are just now ready to come out. Either way is fine, but the latter makes me feel more sympathy for you. It must be very difficult to know who you are and feel that you can't express it.
I have always known I liked boys/men and girls/women since long before I knew there was a name for it. And I just never cared that people knew it, so I was never 'in the closet'. Seems like it would be unbearably confining in there...
