I would just go and don't respond to him for like a week. My mum does the same thing to me occasionally, and when she threatens it I go something like "right I'll get going then," and then she's like "owh no you don't really have to leave." But I do anyway because it shows you don't take it as a threat and won't lower yourself pleading to stay.
