Sounds like you're clinging onto this relationship even though it isn't in your best interest. At 28 he should be starting to hit his stride with his career, instead of smoking weed, hanging out with his bros, and staying at home.
As far as the trip goes, if his buddies are paying for his ticket because he can't afford it, why would he invite you? "Hey Dave, I know you're paying $1,500 extra for me to go, but do you mind throwing in an additional $1,000 so my chick can come?"

I mean that this guy will probably always be the type to leave you to hang with his bros, and to not include you in many things.
