    Cut him off completely. If he wants to end a relationship just because “he wants to be single”, he’s not worth your time.

        I think he still wants the status on Facebook because of either social stigma or to keep the option of going back to you open.

        Honestly feels abusive, you need to consider whether or not you'll allow yourself to be treated like that.

            Obviously it's sad. Seeing the status yourself though can be destructive, if I were in your place... well, I'd want to keep it active too. But I would also know better than to torture myself like that so, it's best to remove it.
