    • Yes you should. Heres why:

      1. Its a book about CELL PHONES TURNING PEOPLE INTO ZOMBIES.

      2. Its very poorly written. I've read every SK book out there, and this is BY FAR the worst one he's ever written.

      3. The ending is fucking dumb. He picks up his phone to call whatever ominous thing that turns people into zombies and BAM! Book over.

Its people like you that support the ever widening canyon between the intelligent and the slack-jawed idiocy of the world.

      Good day, sir.

      • It's called fiction. How is a signal transmitted through mobile devices more unbelievable than other zombie stories of infected animals or crashed planes full of chemicals. It adds another layer of story, is it an accident? is it terrorism? and how is SK a poor writer I am a constant reader of SK and have only even not liked 1 book of his pet cemetary all the others I love and I think the full version of the stand is one of the greatest works I have read. I suppose you think H.P Lovecraft is a poor writer too?

      • Plus if that's what you get from the ending you missed the point

        • No, actually, its just a fact. I happen to agree with you. The Stand is probably one of the most amazing works of post-apocalyptic fiction ever written. SK at one point was my favorite author. I mean think about these books for a second:

Man goes crazy in haunted hotel and tries to murder family.

Captain Tripps devastates the population and good has to battle evil.

Ancient gunslinger fights to save creation from the forces of evil.

That's The Shining, The Stand, and The Dark Tower. Arguably the three best books he ever wrote (with the exception of the final 3 Tower books. Those were trash.)

And now we have Cell. Cell phones that turn people into zombies. Now, aside from being a thinly veiled allegory about the dangers of technology, the characters were thinly written. The plot was incoherant at best, the writing was subpar for SK, and the ending was dumb. You don't need to "get" the ending. It was a see through copout on an already failing story. Its ok to admit that SK can write a bad book. Just take a deep breath and say to yourself, "Wel...that fuckin sucked."

          You'll feel better.

            • Its fine if you stand by Cell as a good read. Buts its also just as fine for me to truthfully point out that Cell is not, in fact, a good read.

              • What is or isn't a good read? how can anyone critisice the overall use or enjoyment factor of a media type for others as taste is so subjective. I'm not a fan of the michael bay transformer films, I don't say to people who like them " it's shit don't watch it" because it may not be my thing but hey they get enoyment from it so who cares. It goes the other way too, I showed a mate my favorite film eraserhead and despite it not being his thing he didn't slate it to me or say I should be ashamed he left it at "not really my thing" it's called not being a snob
