I was sort of a New Wave chick back in high school in the 1980s. I went to a lot of concerts, but I actually started going to concerts when I went to see Duran Duran at the Summit in Houston Texas. I eventually had to switch schools in my senior year, but it was for the best, because I made friends with this crazy girl who worked at a radio station, and I ended up getting a job there too.
I also had plenty of bad times in high school too. I was certainly different, and had to deal with more than my share of bullshit from other students. Things were actually worse when I was more preppy, and kind of trying to fit in. When I was true to myself some people got shittier, in a lot of ways, but I actually felt better once I started to stand up for myself, and also kinda ignored the people who were assholes.
The thing about bullies is they can dish it out, but they can't take it. I love my mom and my sister, but they're both the type people who are very judgmental and critical of others. My mother and my sister both are also the type of people who can make and laugh at jokes at someone else's expense, but they can't handle it when the joke is at their expense, and neither of them can laugh at themselves.
Tell your brother to work hard at studying, look for some fun extracurricular activities and play hard, but always remember it's not forever! 😉
