My best hour in high school was making a tour of teachers the day after my 16th birthday and getting them to sign a form acknowledging that they knew they should take me off their class lists.
The best moments of my two-month high school career were the English teacher saying she was sorry to hear I was dropping out because the work I'd done had led her to think I had potential. She was the only one who made any attempt to get me to reconsider.
BTW, it has now been about forty-five years since that day, and I've never once regretted bailing out of HS as soon as I could. Too many irrelevant but mandatory subjects, too many burnt-out teachers, too many ridiculous hoops to jump through, too much phoney, hyped-up "team spirit" crap, and about a ton too much shit from obnoxious, insecure, hormonal teenagers who were only there because their parents said they had to be.
