  • My favourite isn't listed. NFS 5: Porsche 2000 where you started in 1948 with the 356 Roadster and got to drive and customise every single Porsche up until the 911 GT3. It wasn't popular, though, because people didn't like upgrading their cars, fitting different tyres for different tracks and setting tyre pressures, setting up the ride height of shocks, steering toe in, brake balance, downforce, and gearbox ratios. Personally, I loved it because it felt like your actual race car, configured the way you wanted it for your driving style. They also paid a lot of attention to the history of the marque.

After that, I quite liked Shift. But that wasn't well-received either, for much the same reasons as NFS 5.

      • I found it on an Abandonware site recently and downloaded it so I can still play it. The Monte Carlo circuits are so realistic, I recognise landmarks even these days when I watch the Monaco Grand Prix. And driving on the snow and ice in The Alps? Wow.

They don't make games like that any more.
