Back pain daily for 3 years and counting...

Hey! I've been suffering from back pains EVERYDAY since I was 15! ( i'm 18 now!) & NOT exaggerating! I have played basketball since I was 11, and I thought this lower back pain would go off after I've taken a break from basketball for the first time in 7 years, but it still hurts really bad everyday without fail! And I don't feel the pain coming from a muscular strain but it always feels like it's from a bone near the buttocks! Am I a freak?!!

Is It Normal?

  • I had a car crash I Hertford my back, neck , hips and dislocated my jaw. I was racked with pain taking 8 10 12 full strength pain killers a day. I could not think straight or even pull myself out of bed

I had a real phobia about needles but turned to acupuncture out of desperation. Doctor young told me that lots of people do come to her as a last resort when all else fail. I had treatment twice a week to start with Chinese herbal medicine. Within six weeks I was off all western drugs and was on treatment once a week for three months with Chinese massage and cupping. To cut a long story very short one year later I was on a once a month maintenance treatment. Today I'm pain free completely.

You cannot be sceptical and must want to get well keep an open mind. I can ride my horse swim run & ski with no pain

Dr young was trained in the university of Beijing and then tough there after qualifying. She is now in the UK and I owe Her my life. I forgot to mention The pain made me suicidal.

    GOOD LUCK

  • You're not a freak, but you do need to see a doctor about the problem. If your parents aren't sympathetic, tell your basketball coach and maybe he can suggest the name of a doctor for you to see.

  • You should see a doctor. I had bad back pain for years, and it only improved when I got chiropractic treatment. It sounds like you might have scoliosis or subluxation of the spine (which I have, probably from an injury I had that wasn't treated properly, and carrying a heavy backpack). Physio and chrio are only okay for certain conditions, so check with your doctor if it's safe. Chiro and physio can be dangerous for slipped discs, but chiro has been wonderful for me.

  • No I haven't told my parents cause they're gonna freak out! And I've been to several sessions of physio every now and then, but there isn't much improvement!

  • Go to the doctors. Did you tell your parents about it?

  • probably a compressed disc..or mild sciatica.

either way you will have to go to the doc's and they will prescribe PT.

  • no you are not a freak, you an an idiot for thinking you are a freak though. i know someone who has been suffering from back pain for over 20 years and is bedridden most of the time. so i suggest you go to the doctor immediately and get a referral to a back specialist and get some scans done to see what is going on.
