When an account is banned the comments are never removed. They always stay there credited to the banned screen name forever. That doesn't mean the account is active. What you will find is that unlike active user comments, the screen name on the comment will no longer be clickable. Yes often when an account is banned there will be a short period where the profile is stlll visible. That isn't because they changed your password, it is either because they have not completed taking down the page, or you may also being seeing a shadow of the page being generated by your browsers catch which has not yet updated and is displaying old saved information. Either way the effect rarely lasts more than an hour or so, and has nothing do to with you account being repassworded.
As far as thumbs down privileges, they kick in at 2 months. Some of my accounts have gotten them and some have not so I don't think it's a factor. As I said before my accounts get banned when I don't flow the rules and I am never surprised or upset when it happens. Just like I don't care about getting banned, I also don't care about thumb down privileges. So even if it was all a plot to deny me the ability to thumb things down, which I don't believe, who cares? Thumbing something up or down is equally as irrelevant as banning an account. If you honestly give a shit about thumbing down a post, or having your post thumbed down, I can't imagine why you are. If you are not concerned with it, than why give a shit if they are trying to stop you from doing it?
If you want thumb down so badly, create a separate account and do nothing with it for 2 months. An inactive account will not get banned and you will have thumb down privileges on that account. You could make a hundred accounts and do that if you want. If you make them all now, in two months you will have 100 accounts to thumb down with.
I think you we're missing my point. If you knew the screen names I had disabled and thought I gave the slightest bit of fuck either way or the other in regards to my accounts and their down voting privileges I'd go so far to say you'd have to be a pretty obtuse guy.
But anyways, it is what it is and to greener pastures ahead! haha
I don't think I missed your point at all. You were suggesting that the moderators make decisions on who to ban and who not to ban based more on personal feelings, who they like, and who the are comfortable giving the thumps down privileges to. You were suggesting this is all political and has noting to do with actual rules. You stated that clearly, and I responded to it directly. My response was no, I do not believe that to be the case but also don't care if it is or isn't because the entire exercise is pointless.
As to who you are, and what you do or don't care about, I don't care about any of that either. You raised the issue and I told you what you could do about it if you cared. If you don't care, than don't do it, it makes no difference to me. I said I don't really care about why the decisions are made or the motivations behind them, because I don't care about the issues themselves in the first place. If you also don't care about the issues, than pondering the reasoning seems to me to be a waste of your time, and I think you are wise to move on to those greener pastures.
