    You're correct. Socialism is an economic alternative to capitalism and private property. It has nothing to do with oppression and political control. Sweden is a socialist country and the people enjoy a peaceful democratic lifestyle.

      Scandinavian countries—specifically, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland—are perceived as socialist because their citizens pay very high income taxes. However, these countries still suffer from many of the social and economic ills that socialism is supposed to prevent.

          As someone who doesn't have to support royalty, I must say the English Royals have entertained and enlivened my life numerous times, around the world.
