Ati catalyst display driver issue

Hello all,

I recently installed ATI Radeon HD 4870 graphics card for my HP laptop. Everything is working fine except my video playback. I have downloaded the latest version of the ATI Catalyst 9.7 Display Driver but I am unable to proceed the installation as it keep saying a older version of this driver is existing.

Can anybody can this done for me. Thanks a million.

    can i can help you no. btw, sry to be a perfectionist but it's "an older version", not "a older version". this particular mistake bugs the hell out of me, I don't know why.

    seriously mate... I quick search on the internet would of directed you to the ATI site which could of told you what to do.
    But yea what Sek says is right you gotta take the old ones off first

    Some hard to remove files have to be removed with a ati removal tool program, can be downloaded online. But most of the time just removing in device manager does it!

    try control panel > device manager > display adapters, then uninstall. restart, then install the latest driver and catalyst control centre. if this doesn't work just keep asking. im not saying this is the answer im just giving my knowledge and past experiences, and trying to help someone out. so good luck dude.
