I used to get them when I was much younger. I can't remember what the amount was. A little bit later on, my ex-psychiatrist set up an allowance program where I would have to do certain things and my mother would set the amount. He said $100 a week, but mother couldn't afford is so she settled on $20. It worked for a while, but soon I became "uninterested". I had become used to the fact that when I had seemingly done little, I would still get money. So, I slowly stopped meeting the acquirements and $20 became as low as $5-. Eventually, my mom stopped the system because she realized it was no longer working.
I don't know when it is a good time to stop. I guess when they get a job, but the age a person can work varies from country to country or state to state.
At what age is too old for an allowance?
