Because people around you start to talk about/start their careers/jobs, talk about/get married, talk about/have kids, talk about/have bills to pay, talk about/start to have real responsibilities and struggles, talk about/move to a house to live on their own and/or settle down
All though it's not really an old age, I think around this time you tend to get your eyes opened for the first time that your leaving the childhood/carefree life and entering the real world where your expected to be a responsible adult
You start to realise that the things you saw as struggles and responsibilities in your childhood years, are nothing compared to what you deal with now, and will have to continue dealing with for the rest of your life
You have to think about your education, career path, financial choices, transportation, relationships, living situations seriously for the first time. Along with other things you didn't take into consideration before like all the different bills you would need to pay each month and scheduling your own doctor appointments, getting your own insurance, and doing your taxes, along with other things
