I wanted to go to an art school and I attended the pre courses so I'd get extra points when applying. It was horrific, i was put under loads of stress and people were very competitive, too much for my over-shy self. The teacher was very tough and always told everyone we sucked. Basically the course comprised of that.
But it was actually very useful, because in order to take critics seriously and understand what might be wrong with your drawing.
Art is a very complex thing, it has a meaning, a meaning YOU put in it, but in order to make it more noticable you have to learn how to make it look real.
