  • The concept of "race" is a social and political construct. Racial categories are not real. By "real," I mean based on facts that people can even begin to agree on: factors that are permanent, objective, logical, scientific.

    Although race isn't real, racism is. Many countries (e.g USA, UK) embraced the idea of race because it helped make the idea of slavery acceptable.

    A person's race can change depending on physical location. For example: in West Africa I am considered white, yet the simple act of getting on a plane and stepping out into say, Germany I am considered black.

    In regard to race I believe everyone has their prejudices, even if they're subtle and unconscious.
