  • Yes, although nowhere near as much as I'd like to. I'm actively protesting the condition of student housing in my city (it's terrible, malicious and often illegal) and the pension cuts to members of academic staff at my university (which may be as high as 27%). I'd like to be more active in protesting education fees (which is a massive national protest at the moment), but I've got too much on my plate with the other two causes. There are too many causes to name that I wish I was more involved in. It's the only thing that really invigorates me.

Being a vegetarian is a sort of meat boycott. I'm doing my best to boycott companies I don't like, such as Amazon. The problem is it's almost impossible to live ethically in the capitalist environment we exist in. You've got to make every decision actively against the grain, because the choices which we are socialized towards are almost never ethical. Your unusual patterns of consumptiom alienate you from a lot of people and disinclude you from participating in the mainstream. It's tireless labour.
