It's not really as simple a question as you seem to think. It's more a matter of degree of support. Most people would probably agree that an adult should be allowed to live, identify and be addressed as a member of whatever sex they choose. However people start falling off in support when dealing with issues surrounding the situation. Such as should someone born with an X & Y chromosome who still has a penis be able to use a "ladies" room? Or should someone born with an X & Y chromosome compete in physical sports against people born with XX? That's where the issues arise.
