Well... Most women operate on a 30 day schedule, but this can deviate a lot. There's basically only two remarkable bits. There's the second week, which is half way through the cycle. During this time, the woman is most fertile for baby making magic. The egg is released and I guess it just hangs around... Waiting for a sperm or something. Then the final week is the period. Satan incarnate. Basically your uterus sheds all its baby making tissue (it's not blood coming out. it's human tissue. thats worse I think) and rips you apart as punishment for not being knocked up.
It's all controlled by hormonal changes over the course. Woo.
