Depends on who is holding it. I have a few relatives in the (legal) arms dealing business and in my area of origin guns are pretty normal and most people that I know that own one are well trained and qualified to own one. Now if I were at gunpoint, I'd be afraid, but guns in general only make me about as nervous as the person handling them.
In the U.S. it is fairly easy to get a conceal and carry permit, and I keep a .38 revolver in my car. Shooting sports have always been part of my life as well so I am exceedingly comfortable around guns, even in the hands of criminals (as I have one too, and I use mine more efficiently)
Guns are so much a part of life for some in the U.S. that a large portion of my inheritance from my grandfather included about 30ish guns, and an AMAZING gun safe that costs more than my car!
Yeah, guns are a lot more restricted in europe. You have to have specific licenses or reasons to be even allowed to have one, and then only a select few jobs may even CARRY it in public.
So yes, seeing a gun except in the store front of a gun shop makes me nervous.
This is a great question. I had a similar post recently because my boyfriend keeps a gun in our house. Honestly, I still find guns frightening, and unsettling, but if the gun is being used by a trained professional whom you trust, there isn't tooo much to be worried about.
