Are you nervous if you see a gun?

Do you get nervous being around a gun, even if it's either just lying there or in the hands of a trusted person?

  • No. My father collects pistols and I own one myself. You'll stop being scared if you spend enough time around them.

  • Depends on who is holding it. I have a few relatives in the (legal) arms dealing business and in my area of origin guns are pretty normal and most people that I know that own one are well trained and qualified to own one. Now if I were at gunpoint, I'd be afraid, but guns in general only make me about as nervous as the person handling them.

      • Like I said, depends on who is holding it. If it is being held to be head by a criminal than the gun would most likely make me very nervous, as well as the criminal holding it to my head. But outside of that scenario, no.

    • who cares

  • If dick cheney is holding it.

  • That would be silly since I own a glock 22 .40 S&W

We don't fear guns in America we embrace them!

  • In the U.S. it is fairly easy to get a conceal and carry permit, and I keep a .38 revolver in my car. Shooting sports have always been part of my life as well so I am exceedingly comfortable around guns, even in the hands of criminals (as I have one too, and I use mine more efficiently)

Guns are so much a part of life for some in the U.S. that a large portion of my inheritance from my grandfather included about 30ish guns, and an AMAZING gun safe that costs more than my car!

    • I keep a Colt Commander .45 acp with me.
I've inherited a few cool guns from my grandparents because none of my siblings like guns.

      • Nice, I don't carry mine with me, just keep it in the car, as I have some friends that live in the less than savory parts of town and I happen to go their quite often!

I still haven't figured out why they wont move down to the south side by me, but to each his own I guess.

  • I've been around guns my whole life. Shooting sports are a way of life for me. I'm as comfortable around firearms as automobiles...which are considerably more dangerous.

  • I'm really not exposed to guns. I know a few people who have one but I've never seen it. I've shot some before, I'm special, I know. Dont fuck with me because I'm actually a really good shot. With little guns anyway :) bang bang

  • Yeah, guns are a lot more restricted in europe. You have to have specific licenses or reasons to be even allowed to have one, and then only a select few jobs may even CARRY it in public.

So yes, seeing a gun except in the store front of a gun shop makes me nervous.

  • I get nervous around most potential weapons, especially fire.

    • I just heard a local story of a woman bein doused in gasoline and set on fire. What a way to go...

  • doesn't bother me.. it's just a gun. Worst case scenario-I'll die. I have a licensed weapon too, but it's a shotgun.

Although i never happened to be at gunpoint myself, just a met a lot of bad people who carry guns.

  • I've never actually seen one, but if I saw one here in Ireland, I'd be terrified!

  • This is a great question. I had a similar post recently because my boyfriend keeps a gun in our house. Honestly, I still find guns frightening, and unsettling, but if the gun is being used by a trained professional whom you trust, there isn't tooo much to be worried about.

  • Er...if it's at my head.

  • I use to love handling them and shooting them off until my 14 year old cousin was shot and killed now I don't even like seeing them

  • Coming from a guy who has been robbed at gun point twice, yes, I am terrified of guns.

I'm scared of anything that could end my contentiousness in a fraction of a second.

  • If it were someone I really trusted then I wouldnt be scared but with a stranger... Well you get the picture. Guns have never been my thing and the people around dont have them either. Not my cup of tea.

  • i ain't a scared of guns the police have them and my uncle has one who works for the PSNI as a Traffic Warden i have held guns a few times in my life the police and a man around the corner allowed me to hold their guns.

  • Never seen one in real life so wouldn't know.

  • There's very little that inspires fear in me, so no!

    (Except bees. I hate bees)

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • It depends who is holding it.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • I don't like to look at the front of them.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • There are several. Or is it three?

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Sometimes. It's so hard to have a gun here that the people who have them are a bit dubious. Or they're police. Not that it's mutually exclusive.

  • I get slightly excited. I really want to get a pistol license but the only gun range near where I live shut down. It's a lot harder to get one in the UK but it's not impossible.

    • I'm also from the UK - I'd love to have a go with a pistol at a firing range. I didn't think any ordinary citizen could legally apply to own a pistol? I thought we could only obtain licenses to own shotguns and rifles?

      • There is a pistol license aswell but the pistols have to have a certain length barrel.

  • screw that a metal bat, a chainsaw and a machete lol .

  • I actually feel safer around police officers, especially in unsafe areas. I do not get nervous when around police, security guards, soldiers, etc. However, when I see a gun or any other weapon being handled by some random stranger, that's scary!
