Simply don't watch it. Do you know that has been happening since ever? Nosferatu was a monster looking thing. The first vampires. They were not handsome at all, looked like monsters. If we are to say hate towards Twilight due to it being different is a valid reason, then you should hate the vast majority of vampires since the original Nosferatu.
Things alter for public wants. Yes, we may not like it, yes we may think it is annoying that they are making Vampires less "cool", but that is what a large variety of people want, and we don't need to watch it. Most people will not identify vampires as the ones in Twilight, so there is no reason to get mad.
Not really. We have had far more different versions of vampires in this generation other than Twilight.
There is "Being Human", "Daybreakers", and that other film where it is dark for 40 days and 40 nights. Twilight is the only version of vampires that does not run under what vampirism is, and it will surely be forgotten soon enough with new vampire films/shows.
Are You Glad Twilight's Over Too?

The thing is though is that people of the next generation will identify vampires as the ones portrayed in the Twilight series so there is a reason.
